Dr. Shankar Prasad is one of the rare physicians holding dual qualifications in Modern Medicine and {A}yurveda. He earned both his Medical Bachelors degree (M.B.B.S) as well as his Masters in Internal medicine (M.D.) at Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad. He also earned the degree of Diplomate of the National Board of Examinations (D.N.B.) in General Medicine in 2001. After working as a consultant in the Department of Internal Medicine and Critical Care at various prestigious institutions in Hyderabad such as Mediciti Hospitals, CARE hospitals, etc., and as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Gandhi Medical College, he started to pursue formal Āyurvedic education by completing B.A.M.S. at Vagdevi Ayurvedic Medical College in Warangal, and also by completing M.Phil. in {A}yurveda at Pune University in {r}asaSAstra. He also pursued traditional Āyurvedic learning with Vd. Shri. Pradyumnacharya Nilangekar and Vd. Shri Itikyala Sanjeeva Rao in Hyderabad for 9 years, and trained with Dr. L. Mahadevan, Derisinamcope and at Vaidyaratnam Ayurvedic Foundation in Thrissur. Currently he is the Director of SIVAS Health and Research Institute in Secunderabad, and also works as a Senior Consultant Physician at Sunshine Hospitals in Hyderabad. He is actively involved in research in the areas of immunology, infectious diseases and lifestyle disorders through the principles of integrative medicine based on the wisdom of {A}yurveda, {y}oga and {v}edAnta.
