- This course offers students the opportunity to learn Sanskrit in pure Pāṇinian style specifically to read {A}yurveda texts in Sanskrit. It starts with training in the basic pronunciation of Sanskrit sounds as described in the traditional grammatical texts, and proceeds in sequence to teach nominal declension, verbal conjugation, sanDi and kAraka using traditional grammatical terms and methods so that students can identify forms in the verse, dissolve sandhi and construe the syntax of the verse. The course aims to make students independent in understanding the basic Sanskrit texts of {A}yurveda. The course helps students to understand the traditional commentaries on {A}yurveda texts. The text selected for this course is the {a}zwANgahfdaya.
