√ci2 'note, observe'
present: [3.] cik/ezi etc. cikIhi ciketu cik/eTe cikitAm c/ikyat acikayus -- [5.] cinoti cinute E.+ -- [1.] cayate etc. perfect: cikAya etc. V.+ aorist: [1.] /acet /aciDvam -- [4.] acezwa future: cezyati verbal: cit/a V.+ cetum E.+ -citya E.+ secondary: passive: cIyate etc. -- desiderative: cikIzati cikIzate etc. derivatives: -caya V.+ -cayana C. cAyaka C. -cAyin E.+ -c/it RV. citi B.+ -cetavya E.+ cet/f V.B. -ceya S.E. -cira RV. Compare √cAy, which appears to be an early specialized form of this root; cay (BR. 3 ci) is another. The forms and derivatives of 2ci are not everywhere well separable from those of 1ci, and there is reason to suspect the two roots of being ultimately one; words with the prefixes nis and vi, especially, are probably best referred to 1ci, with the meaning 'take apart', and so 'resolve, decide'.
